HALF MOON BAY — November 4, 2026. The first reported council election totals show different leaders in three Half Moon Bay districts. The San Mateo County election-night portal lists David Gorn with 390 votes (67.01%) against Robert Brownstone (192) in District 1.
Districts 4 and 5
In District 4, Ron Kies leads Debbie Ruddock by 520 votes to 355, or 59.43% to 40.57%. In District 5, Susie Morasci has 341 votes to Steven R. Booker’s 241, a 100-vote gap. Each contest elects one representative; their totals reflect different council districts.
The city also voted on Measure Q
Half Moon Bay residents also faced a separate local ballot measure involving farmworker housing. California58 has reported on the close preliminary Measure Q result. That yes/no question must be considered separately from the city council races.
The county cautions that many ballots remain uncounted. None of the council district leads should be reported as a certified election victory at this stage.
All figures are from San Mateo County’s semi-official final election-night report updated November 4, 2026 at 2:03 a.m. The county explicitly says many mail, conditional and provisional ballots remain uncounted. The next update is scheduled for November 5 before 4:30 p.m.; certification is planned for December 3.
